Today we are reviewing:

Wagg Guinea Pig Crunch

I was delighted when the fine people at Wagg sent the Squidgypigs some Wagg Guinea Pig Crunch to review.

What is it?:
Muesli style guinea pig food
Mixture of nuggets, flaked peas, crushed corn and grains.

What can your pet do with it?:
Eat it
Have a piddle in it (only Slincypig did this!)

Ingredients:
Wheat, Peas, Oatfeed, Wheatfeed, Flaked Soya, Oats, Flaked Maize, Lucerne, Sunflower Ext., Whole Maize, Vegetable Oil, Apple (4% in green pellet), Grape (4% in green pellet), Grass, Carob Meal, Minerals, Linseed, (0.4%), Yeast (0.04%), Peppermint, Parsley.

Nutrition:
With no artificial colours or flavours, high vitamin C (and E & A) and linseed as a source of omega 3 (good for skin and coats) Wagg is nutritionally superior to any other muesli type food I have personally encountered.

Price:
£2.31 at Morrisons is currently the best price.

Review:
Our nursing mums Football and Blondie jumped on the Guinea Pig Crunch with a rampant hunger for muesli that screamed “Babies? What babies? It’s every pig for itself tonight” the babies soon followed their mums and even blind baby Britney followed her nose (and the rush of piggy feet) to a bowl and started to munch the crunch.

The Crunch is dry, clean, largely dust free and has a lovely fresh, almost fruity smell. It has to be said that muesli style small animal feeds often get a bad press for creating selective feeding opportunities where one element (often the nugget style components of the mix) gets left long after the tastier, fattier peas and corn components have been devoured. I was really surprised to find that it was really only Ned’s bowl that displayed any evidence of this type of behaviour (he actually left the peas…) all the girls seemed very happy to eat every little bit of the crunch. When I later returned to Ned’s bowl, he too had finished the entire bowl!

Conclusion:
The Squidgypigs universally loved the Wagg Guineapig Crunch. The variety of the mix seemed attractive to all of the Squidgypigs with every age group happily finishing their bowls. If you want to feed a muesli mix I suggest you feed one fortified with all the right stuff and most importantly one your piggies will enjoy, the only muesli mix I have found that ticks all the boxes is Wagg Guineapig Crunch.
